AION 2 Genus Insight Guide: Five Boards, Pet EXP, Rolls and Costs

✓ Last verified 2026-10-22 · How we check facts

Quick answer

AION 2 Genus Insight is the system where pet EXP and insight crystals feed five stat boards, one per pet family. It is separate from Pet Insight and from Owned Effects.

AION 2 Genus Insight is the part of the pet system where pet EXP and insight crystals feed stat boards. Those boards are not the same thing as a pet's own progress, and they are not the same as the permanent bonuses you keep from owning pets. This hub sorts the three layers out and then points to every guide in the genus group. If you remember one thing, remember this: AION 2 Genus Insight is the board system, while Pet Insight and Owned Effects belong to the pets you already own.

AION 2 Genus Insight Basics: Three Layers to Keep Apart

Most confusion about the pet system comes from three layers that sound alike. Video guides of the global version describe them the same way, so the table below uses the same wording and keeps them apart.

LayerWhat it coversWhere you see it
Pet InsightOne pet's progress from level 1 to level 3The pet's own entry in the pets menu
Owned EffectsPermanent stats from every pet you ownThe summary tab, with no need to ride the pet
Genus InsightFive boards with nine stat slots eachThe genus screen, fed by pet EXP and crystals

Pet Insight is the ladder for each individual pet. Video guides of the global version report that a common pet needs 5 souls to unlock, then 25 more duplicate souls for level 2 and 75 more for level 3, which is 105 souls in total. According to the aion2pets.app record, the 25 and 75 split holds for common pets. Owned Effects start to apply once the pet is owned, and they are covered in the AION 2 owned effects guide.

AION 2 Genus Insight Boards and Rolls

Genus Insight has five boards, one for each family: Cogni, Fera, Natura, Varian and Special. Each board carries nine stat slots and runs from level 0 to level 10, and each level unlocks more of those slots. Video guides of the global version describe the same structure, so the layout is consistent across the sources we checked.

A roll, which guides also call an analysis, costs crystals plus kina. It rerolls the stats that are not locked and adds EXP to that board. Three presets share one board level but roll separately, which is why one rule-set guide advises keeping a decent first preset and a second preset built to min-max.

AION 2 Genus Insight Boards

The slot layout and the slot 4 options for each family are in the AION 2 genus insight boards guide. Slot 4 is the line that most guides call the most important on every board, so it is the first place to start.

Crystals, Locks and Roll Cost

The crystals that pay for rolls come from pet milestones, duties and extra kills of max-level pets. They are covered in AION 2 insight crystals. Each locked stat raises the cost of the next roll, and the numbers are in AION 2 stat locking.

BoardCrystal colorFamily effects seen in videos
CogniBlueHP, critical hit and Might
FeraRedMount ground speed, accuracy and Dexterity
NaturaGreenStamina, critical hit resist and Precision
VarianYellowConstitution, evasion and Willpower
SpecialTurquoise or cyanNo stat effects reported on Special pets

Those family effects describe owned pets. They are not the lines you roll on a board, and the two are easy to mix up.

Feeding the Boards: Pet EXP and Server Sharing

Each pet milestone adds EXP to its board. According to the aion2pets.app record, a pet's first unlock adds 500 EXP and each later level adds 250 EXP. Several video guides agree with that split, while others say 500 EXP per pet or 250 per step. Guides differ on the exact figure, so check it on your own client before you plan a large farm.

Sharing is the other question players ask. In Korea, NC announced on January 7, 2026 that Genus Insight would move to server-wide sharing. The highest value among characters on a server counts, and pet levels are added together across characters. That is a Korean announcement. Four global-version videos report that pet progress works the same way on the global client, but no official global text confirms it yet. Read the AION 2 pet sharing guide before you move progress between characters.

Best Stats, Costs and Where to Start

Heroic lines are the strongest rolls, and guides place their start at level 9. Video guides of the global version report that level 10 raises the odds further. The per-family slot 4 choices are in AION 2 genus insight best stats, and the full roll and lock price list is in AION 2 genus insight cost.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is AION 2 Genus Insight?

AION 2 Genus Insight is the board system that turns pet EXP and crystals into rolled stats on five boards, one for each family. It does not replace Pet Insight for a single pet, and it is separate from the Owned Effects you get simply by owning pets.

Q: Does AION 2 Genus Insight depend on my class?

Pets are not tied to one class. Video guides of the global version say pets are shared at the account or server level, so class advice is really about which Genus Insight lines to roll. Positional classes such as Templar, Gladiator and Assassin choose front or back attack damage boost on some boards, and that choice belongs to the board, not to the pet you ride.

Q: Is AION 2 Genus Insight shared across my characters?

In Korea, NC announced server-wide sharing with aggregated pet levels, which is an official Korean fact. Several global-version videos report the same behavior, but no official global text confirms it. Check the pet sharing guide for the current status before you plan around alts.

Q: Should I lock any stats early on AION 2 Genus Insight?

Most guides say no. Video guides of the global version repeat the same advice: wait until level 9, and ideally level 10, before you lock a stat, because each lock raises the cost of the next roll.
